Reference : TNN70%Theobroma cacao is native to Peru, which is home to 60% of the species' genetic diversity. However, this diversity is threatened by monoculture, particularly in the San Martín region. Our Nativo Project, launched in 2017, aims to preserve and study cocoa diversity in the Huayabamba Valley. Today, our conservation garden is home to 89 distinct cocoa varieties, 30 of which have been pre-selected for their promising agronomic and aromatic characteristics. Our ongoing research aims to select and disseminate the best varieties from the Huayabamba valley.
